Debbie, only a minute now, and ((hugs))! Would you like me to copy this to Dr.

Chansky for you, get her thoughts? Therapy for 9 years and also on meds, etc.,

etc., and I know what you mean about his being 17 now and responsibility at some

point.

has thoughts but won't take medication. It is ongoing for him but he

manages. Won't talk about it at all but I can see.

Let me know,

My son was responsible for his medication when he was 15. Then he had a

breakdown 6 mo. later with suicidal thoughts. B/C of the suicidal thoughts, we

were told to lock up the med. and I took over the med. dispensing. He is now 17

and at some point I need to have him take over the responsibility again. Does

anyone have

sorry I didn't sign my name. This is . Anyway, yes I would

appreciate you sending the info on to Dr. Chansky. I have read her book and

found it helpful when he was younger(when he thought I would die when he

sep.from me) and with the suicidal thoughts later. Now he has so many

compulsions usually around ADLs so hard to avoid. Going out of bedroom

door, brushing teeth, opening refrig. door, getting milk out, opening milk

carton, lifting spoon to mouth, chewing, putting shoes on, zippers, getting

in car, needing to pee outside (we live in country), fastening seat belt.

Then it starts all over when he gets to school and when he gets home. Only

time he is free is when he is working on his projects with his hands

(fixing things, taking things apart, creating things) and when on computer

(games, doing photoshop or animation software). His therapist said he could

only work on getting rid of one compulsion at a time b/c so dif. When he

works on it, his face gets very tense/contorted and I can see he struggles

ALOT with trying to go through the routine without repeating the

compulsion. Seems like he gets rid of one and another one emerges..Thanks

for your help.

Oops, sory , don't know where I picked up the name Debbie. Maybe some

earlier post I was scanning.

OK, I'll send it to Dr. Chansky and think I'll include some of your reply

listing specifics he does.

Will post a reply from her to you when I receive it!
