Our 11 yo daughter started Zoloft at the end of January and we have seen no side

effects at all. She is happier and while she is not completely OCD free, I can

tell that she feels so much better now!

Subject: Effects of Zoloft

Hello,

After a couple of years of avoiding medication for my 10 year old, we have

finally decided to give Zoloft a try. This is a big step for us and I'm very

nervous about the whole thing.

I'm hoping to get some feedback from anyone whose child is on Zoloft or has

taken it at some point as to the types of side effects that their child

experienced. I know in the medication warnings, it states all kinds of side

effects and I know that Zoloft effects everyone differently but I'd really like

to hear directly from parents who have had first-hand experience with Zoloft

especially during the first few days or first few weeks. I just want to be

prepared as to what to expect.

I'd appreciate any feedback.

thank you,

S

my daughter at age 10 started on zoloft - 25mg. she had bad tummy problems (gas,

constipation). She also had light headedness when she first started it, & when

she went off it (she dropped to 12.5 mg for 3 days, then zero) she suffered

major withdrawl symptoms. headache, dizziness, etc. Now she is on prozac - only

5mg - and so far no side affects but no change in symptoms yet (she just started

Hi S,

My 10 year old son started Zoloft (or the generic version) two months ago. He

started on 25mg for two weeks to get his body adjusted to taking meds and had

slight diarrhea. His Psy. then put him on 50mg and we saw a big improvement in

his compulsions after another two weeks. However, he has now started to exhibit

anxiety again especially when it comes to  school (my biggest

challange) - I have a call into the dr. to see if they may need to adjust the

meds or

change him to something else. I know all kids metabolize meds differently. The

only other thing that I noticed while he sleeps is that he jerks more that I can

remember. As parents, we were very hesitant to put him on medication BUT

he was not functioning and CBT alone was not working. We are going to try a new

therapist and hopefully, the combo

will change his life.

Good luck, we are all in this together and hopefully our story sharing will help

us all.

Best regards

JJ
