Guest guest
Hi All, I previously wrote a post but think I somehow deleted it. Anyway, I have two children a daughter that was diagnosed with SID and APD. I think she was not completely diagnosed or the wrong diagnosis. I am really not sure and something I will have to look into, but after watching a tape on Autism this past weekend, I am certain she is on the spectrum. My son was dianosed with PDD, Tourette Syndrom and severe dyslexia. There is huge simularities in both my children and that is why I think my daughter may have not been diagnosed right. I home-educate both my children and saw where others mention it and about the socilization argument. I have blogged about this several times. Socilization skills start at home and continue through. I have gotten so many compliments on how well-behaved my children are and such. More on that later with home-schooling. I am just curious of others experiences with autism in their children and what I should look for and consider with my daughter on the spectrum. I had heard that girls aren't diagnosed as frequently so I wonder if my daughter was over-looked. Even after she was nearly 4.5yrs old and not really talking, they called it " speech delay " my heart felt it was way more than that. Now at almost 10.5yrs old she still has difficult time expressing herself , or having what they call " structive speech " She hears things differently which they said is why she was dianogsed with APD ( Auditory Processing Disorder) but I know there is more to this. I look forward to hearing from you all and reading what you have to say. Thank you for your time and welcoming me to this group! Sincerely Shay
