Guest guest
I think the biggest thing helping her is the combination of the antibiotics, Bactrim and Zithromax. We have also done therapy (mostly at home after learning the ropes with a therapist) to get her past things that were contaminated while she was in an exacerbation...but they are all pretty much gone, now. She has either PANDAS and/or PITAND or PANS, take your choice of acronym. But bascially an infection was at the route of the problem. > > > > We just went shopping together for a Halloween costume. She even tried on three different costumes. She NEVER wanted to go shopping over the past year. And the thought of actually trying on something at the store(or that other people might have tried the same thing on)would have made her run the other way. > > > > I hope I'm not jinxing her by posting these achievements. I also hope the positive posts gives some people on here hope. I remember very well how devastatingly hard and draining OCD and all that comes with it can be for both the parents and children. > > > > Kara > > >
Guest guest
I was surprised, too, with that Sudden Onset article, that it mentioned OCD being necessary to diagnose, and tics being one of the secondary symptoms. I've seen other diagnosis criteria saying either tics and/or OCD along with a couple of the other symptoms (i.e. rages, depression, adhd like behavior, separation anxiety, age regression, deterioriation in fine/gross moter skills, etc.). I've also read (please don't ask me where) that some consider tics to be a form of OCD, the compulsion being to make whatever the movement is (i.e. blinking, head shaking, etc.) > > > > > > She has either PANDAS and/or PITAND or PANS, take your choice of acronym.
