Guest guest
I wouldn't rule out OCD because a lot of times we parents don't know the whole picture of what is going on in their minds. Like, does she feel something bad will happen because of XX not being done or she's late, etc. And why does she have physical reactions in church, could be OCD related. However, a lot of that, on the surface, sounds like it may be more GAD. We do have some parents whose children have both GAD and OCD, hope they see this and can comment on it. Adding to the subject line here so maybe it'll catch their eye! > > Chris- > > Thanks. Guest guest
My 17 year old has both. First diagnosed with GAD at 8. More Obsessive thoughts than rituals observed then. At 10, Ocd kicked in as well, with the rituals and repeating words. Thought it may have been Tourettes at the time but ruled that out. Went on Paxil for short time at 8 just to get him through the day at school Basically nonfunctional there. But then his third grade year went exceptionally well. Excellent teacher who also had Anxiety. Fourth grade back again with grandparent's death. No meds, though we should have. He didn't respond well to the therapy b/c of the extreme anxiety so meds. prob. would have helped to calm him so he could work on the therapy. Now on meds. and therapy, since 2 years ago. So long journey with lots of ups and downs... > > > > Chris- > > > > Thanks.
