Hi, I have a 10 yr old son with OCD/hoarding. His hoarding is generally

confined to his closet. I have recently discoverd that he has urinated in a

container and saved it in there as well as all the other things he saves, which

is mostly trash and food. My question is, how unusual is this and should I be

more concerned about this type of hoarding than anything else? It seems very

extreme to me. Thanks

Hi, Dr. Chansky isn't available until later in March, she had let me know she

has a very busy schedule right now. But I am going to send your note to Dr.

instead. She generally does medication questions, but I would think

could offer thoughts on this.

For myself, wanted to add that hoarding urine *has* been done, some hoarders

will hoard feces. If you tell him you want to pour it out, is he all right with

that or adamant about keeping it? Sometimes they may find some things easier to

" let go " of later, tho they still keep hoarding it each time they go. Hate he

has started this now. Sounds like his items are increasing! Can't recall, is he

on meds, any thing new...?

Thanks Chris.  He has only done this one time, but is adamant that I not remove

it.  His closet has so much stuff that I took it out, don't know how he will

react when he figures it out, though.  Jake has been taking Prozac for a little

over 2 weeks, and just increased dose to 10mg.  Thanks for your response.
