Guest guest
Just wanted to mention paintballing as a form of exercise, as people were taking about sports. My son's OCD/anxiety skyrockets with any form of competition, including running. We are a tennis loving family but since the OCD/anxiety kicked in, he does not enjoy that either. He discovered paintballing when his anxiety was extreme (14-16). We are not hunters and don't own guns, though we live in the country. He was able to combine his interest in mechanical things with being social. He found his gun on ebay, as well as other supplies. Spent alot of time relaxing working on his gun (redesigning, cleaning) His friends would make their own courses or go to events. The events are very well managed, with strict rules for safety. Actually safer than when the kids do it on their own. He did get exercise running around without really knowing he was getting exercise. Met some different kids with similar interests. He hasn't played for a while, but it was great for him at the time. Other kids do Geo cashing or Larping. Just other ideas for exercise for kids who don't enjoy sports. I needed to think outside the box myself b/c I love athletics and exercise, so just thought everyone loves it.
