My daughter (16) is on 150 mg daily of zoloft(for ocd) and 30 mg daily of

amitryptylline(for migraines). She has been on this dose of zoloft for over 2

years. She still has considerable unwanted thoughts that she alleviates by

asking me questions and repeating things to me.

Her doctor (family doctor) is switching her from zoloft to prozac. He said she

could just stop zoloft and begin prozac, but I thought there had to be a

tapering off period. He said since I was concerned to follow this schedule:

decrease zoloft to 100 mg for 1 week, then 50 mg for 1 week, then stop

altogether - at same time as tapering to begin prozac at 20 mg per day for 2

weeks, then increase to max dose of 40 mg.

Does this schedule seem appropriate for the switch?

Thank You,

Di
