Guest guest
Hello Friends, My daughter, now 14, was diagnosed with OCD when she was 12 years old. She began weekly treatments at the University of Minnesota, but she didn't progress with her exposures. In February of 2011 her anxiety went completely out of control and she was locked in a bh unit off and on, and finally she was transferred to a residential program for a complete 45 day assessment. She was diagnosed with OCD, General Anxiety Disorder (GAD), ADHD, and a sleep disorder that caused vivid and horrific nightmares. That was a year ago. She has since been diagnosed with all of the above and PTSD. She received outstanding treatment for her OCD at , and now she is getting treatment, a different kind, for self-harm caused by her GAD and her PTSD. The problem, in addition to the above? She's been in residential treatment programs for over a year because no program can treat all of her problems. Now her OCD is coming on strongly and she is in the wrong place to keep that in check. SO, I am wondering if you have heard of any great on-line OCD programs that she could access in her current residential program? Or, if any of you know a bh specialist in the Chicago area that could meet with her regularly to help with exposures? She's at Timberline Knolls in Lemont, IL. Thanks for your help. You, the front-line parents, are amazing. Judy Judy Hawkinson judyhawkinson@... cell:
Guest guest
Wow, Judy, you have been a trooper hanging in there with your daughter. I'm sure it's kept your life in a turmoil. So glad she has had different treatment options - sometimes it all adds up in the end and things come together - I hope that happens soon for her. I have looked at ian Brothers Behavioral Health Center in the Chicago area for my son; if he begins to regress I plan to try them. They do outpatient specific OCD and might work with you to come up with a plan that she could do along with her GAD treatment. http://www.alexianbrothershealth.org/services/abbhh/ocd-anxiety/ Looking for ideas for my 14 yo daughter Hello Friends, My daughter, now 14, was diagnosed with OCD when she was 12 years old.
