Guest guest
My son was diagnosed with OCD. I am not 100% convinced that that is what is going on. However, yesterday morning at church he was outside playing and started collecting rolly-polly bugs in a paper cup. I made him leave them outside during church and he went to check on them several times during the service. Got to my moms after church and he spent the ENTIRE TIME we were there collecting more. (minus a very short break to eat). Then we stopped at the store for a bug house thinking this was just a fun hobby for him. He is now obsessing over them. He got out of bed twice last night (which he very rarely does) to check on them and ask about the extra dirt I had for his bug house. Woke up early this morning and talked non stop about them. d them everywhere he went this morning. Lost one of them outside before school and left for school VERY upset by this. Is this just a kid being a kid? (he's 6) None of my other 3 kids have been THIS obsessed over something but I know all kids are different. Or does this seem related to OCD? Also how do I determine for sure that this is OCD? He has tourette's and I am afraid the other problems he is having are being called OCD because it so often goes along with tourette's and so they are making assumptions. We see a play therapist in a few weeks. Hoping she can shed some light on this.
