Guest guest
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2008-07-16-baby-boomlet_N.htm?csp=34?se=yaho\ orefer The link is to the yahoo article that featured a USA Today article that spoke of a record number of babies being born in 2007. My thought immediately went to how many new dx of autism that would be in the next three or so years. That number was 4,315,000 births in 2007...1/150 of those kids is 287,667. And that doesn't account for the kids born to military families who have a higher rate or to those who are " on the spectrum " but no official dx of " autism " . I live in Illinois. We have the worst social services in the country (so I have been told more than a few times, and they are cutting funding even more for our new budget)...and all I can think is how do we do this? How do we get our law makers to look forward to fixing the situation to come, instead of looking no further than the next election? And what is the solution? Sorry for the depressing post (it's 1 am here and I've been overwhelmed lately...we have no behavior intervention help here)...maybe I should just copy and paste this post into an email to my state rep and congressmen??? I'll start another post for the bx questions after I have slept. Thanks,
