Guest guest
Thank you for all of your input. I talked to the health center, who then contacted the head of his group of dorms. They asked my son to come to the health center and evaluated him briefly. Based on the eval., they decided that he needed to be put in 72 hour lockdown. This all happened yesterday and through the night. He was in the emergency room while they looked for an open bed in an area medical center. By 2 am he was placed in the medical center and given seroquil. The nurse said they gave him that to get him to sleep and decrease delusions. I have talked to him in the emerg. room and at the med. center. Both times, he said he was fine and did not seem to notice that he had a problem. He said he was planning on leaving Sunday. I am used to my OCD son telling me all of his problems 24-7, so this son is totally different. The people I have talked to have been very helpful and say it is common for these Stanford kids to think that b/c they are so smart, they can think through any problems. We will find out tomorrow what the examining psychiatrist thinks of him and a possible plan. I am glad we went forward with this b/c even though my son is not too happy with me getting him help, the staff did agree with us that there is something not right. Thanks again.
