Sounds like it is time to dry her up or go to milking once a day. I usually have kickers with my first fresheners. I put a ring in the floor and then I just clip a line to the ring and put a dog collar around the cows hock and clip to the line. Then every time she kicks she punishes herself. This stop the kicking quickly and at most she can not kick me. You can leave the dog collar on her all the time so you don't have to deal with the behavior every time she comes in.

This darling's not just going for the get your hands off me brush awaytype kick. She's trying to kill your knee caps. Might need somethingfaster than a rope and nobody here would be crazy about crawlingaround under her right now. We've looked for all the obvious, mastitis, sores on her bag or teats, dryness, etc. Last two days we weren't able to get the inflations onher tonight. Not a big deal, yesterday she gave 1/2 a gallon...Belinda>> Hi, Belinda> > Is it possible that she's being milked too long because she's drying > up, and that's why she's 'kicky'?> > If that's not the case, the best remedy we have is to tie her legs > together. If her tail is held above her tailbone - it bends her vertebrae (sp?) the wrong way preventing her from lifting her feet.Otherwise we have cattle locks - metal forms that lock in above the utter and over the back. Nothing is sure proof. The cow can still throw themselves down or off balance... good luck. Try not to have anything to distract her - no calves or anything else (food) to distract her from you milking her.labelleacres wrote: Nope. The only one we have acted like that, uncharacteristicly bitchy, ended up

having staph aureous when we had the milk cultured at the vet lab. Never

had any symptoms of mastitis other than kicking.
