Guest guest
Having well made cushioned shoes are important. Although they are expensive, every few years I get a new pair of Nikes (Air Pegasus usually). Find a shoe store that specializes in running shoes and try on some shoes that fit your foot's needs. Some people require a higher arch, wider outsole for pronation, different widths, etc. This will also help prevent the shin splints from occuring because you will be walking more normally on a better shoe. Oh, and stretching exercises before and after walking a must for joint pain.
