BENGHAZI, Libya — Libyan Leader Moammar Gadhafi says al Qaeda chief Osama bin

Laden is behind the uprising in Libya and al Qaeda followers give young Libyans

I don't know about that. Maybe in association with the Muslim Brotherhood. They seem to be the real power behind all these uprisings, either having started it or at least are usurping it now that its underway.

He's using Bin Laden as an excuse so he can wipe out any protestors among his

people. Do a Google search and you can see rumors of " clashes " between " rebels "

and his military all over his country.

In essence, what he is doing is a Stalinesque purge of the people.

Its just the history of the area. Uprisings were common, mostly lead by local powerseekers. These were crushed like we are seeing now. Even in Biblical times, most warfare of the great empires was putting down such revolts not so much against foreign powers. In Europe it was more lord against lord over a little bit of land and kings against kings more than constant peasant revolts though those did happen now and then.
