Brilliant politician wants to ban crosshairs and bull's eyes on maps. Everyone knows those created a climate of hate that led to this shooting.

Quote:

Representative Bob Brady of Pennsylvania told The Caucus he plans to introduce a bill that would ban symbols like that now-infamous campaign crosshair map.“You can’t threaten the president with a bullseye or a crosshair,†Mr. Brady, a Democrat, said, and his measure would make it a crime to do so to a member of Congress or federal employee, as well.Asked if he believed the map incited the gunman in Tucson, he replied, “I don’t know what’s in that nut’s head. I would rather be safe than sorry.â€He continued, “This is not a wakeup call. This is a major alarm going off. We need to be more civil with each other. We need to tone down this rhetoric.â€http://patterico.com/2011/01/09/dreadfu ... s-on-maps/+++Also, there is a bill just written to impose more gun control and limit how much ammunition someone can own, amongst other provisions. Included is another mention of the above politician and just how far he wants to push it.

Quote:

McCarthy said she plans to confer with House Speaker Boehner and Minority Leader Pelosi to see “if we can work something through†in the coming week.McCarthy’s spokesman confirmed the legislation will target the high-capacity ammunition clips the Arizona gunman allegedly used in the shooting, but neither he or the congresswoman offered any further details.“Again, we need to look at how this is going to work, to protect people, certainly citizens, and we have to look at what I can pass,†McCarthy said. “I don’t want to give the NRA – excuse the pun – the ammunition to come at me either.â€Pennsylvania Rep. Brady, a Democrat from Philadelphia, told CNN that he also plans to take legislative action. He will introduce a bill that would make it a crime for anyone to use language or symbols that could be seen as threatening or violent against a federal official, including a member of Congress.http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0111/47338.html+++I'm afraid we're going to see all kinds of terrible legislation come from this because the politicians are falling all over themselves right now. They are super overreacting to a very rare event and seem to be losing it. I'm not even sure if this current crop of Republicans will do much to bring sanity to it all but will knuckle under in the name of bipartisanship and fear of the media.

The one thing to remember is that the majority of the bills that are introduced

seldom make it to the floor. Bills are a way to make it seem lawmakers are doing

something when in reality they are just paper pushing.

Judicially, I doubt the legislation they are attempting to introduce would

stand.

All I'll say to that is that she isn't presidential material. She might actually do a good job on one level, but she just doesn't have the polish to be president. On the contrary, even more than Bush she would represent the bad American stereotypes around the world.

I have no idea who the Republicans can put up for president in 2012 or even beyond. The last election they had no strong candidates and the strongest of the weak lot dropped out or were pushed out by the media and the primaries. None of the potential candidates that I'm aware of are strong and most are RINOs and shouldn't be trusted on the Republican ticket.

I cannot blame Palin for the shooting, but I can blame her for being crass, inappropriate, and unprofessional.
