, ask her where she thinks the illness will go when there are no tonsils to catch it? Usually gets people thinking about there health and that of an unborn.

hey all,

my friend is thinking about having her tonsils taken out. i am trying to convince her otherwise. her reasoning is silly. she gets sick a lot. she takes an antibiotic about four or five times a year due to a sore an d swollen throat. she has been trying to have a baby and just got this throat thing and went on another antibiotic. she wants to have surgery to prevent herself from getting this throat illness while she is prego. she said she absolutely does not want to be sick when she is prego. any advice?? info on this that i should send her way??

thanks. elizabeth

i once read, and she read too that your tonsils are only used until you are about three. obviously this is wrong. is anything going on with the tonsils until the age of 3 or around the age of 3?

Think of them like a filter. They help stop some foreign invaders from getting into the rest of the body. When they get swollen and painful they are usually fighting a serious "war" with something. This is when you need to help them out with some echinacea and super tonic, gargling with warm salt water, etc. Take them out and you are removing an important working part (at any age) of the human body.
