Libya pulls plug on the Internet

Published: March. 4, 2011 at 8:32 PM

TRIPOLI, Libya, March 4 (UPI) -- Libya has disconnected from the Internet as the

Gadhafi regime attempts to suppress protesters by cutting off the flow of

information, computer experts said.

Servers in Libya became inaccessible shortly after 4:35 p.m. Thursday, and

Google confirms Libyan requests to its servers have ceased, NewScientist.com

reported Friday.

And just remember, Obama either has or soon will have the power to turn off the internet in the US. In addition the FCC is trying to force a fairness doctrine through regulations, sidestepping Congress and the courts in the process. Also recall that after the Oklahoma City bombing, Clinton tried to shut down talk radio and other opposition news sources. He didn't manage it then but government is much stronger now than it was then and is also on much shakier ground because of the economy and how it is damaging the economy as it tries to inflate away its massive debt.

Of course, this inflation will no doubt cause unrest before long as prices begin to spike enough to no longer be ignored. The government won't like sources out there telling people the truth about the monetary and energy policies so they will be shut down. Then we'll have liars like Napalitano who tell us the border has never been more secure, and the others telling us inflation is low or that unemployment is down.
