Guest guest
You can buy the turbo convection oven from mercola.com, amazon.com and target.com. I think Target carries the same one as dr. mercola. mercola has the best description with amazon and target given point form benefits. Guest guest
A lot of them are toaster ovens with a fan, my research is indicating that it's not possible to have a good and useful convection oven that also toasts well. So anyway I just today received the Sunpentown Super Turbo Oven (from Target) http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=2-1/qid=1136439851/ref=sr_2_1/602-862287\ 8-9963036?%5Fencoding=UTF8 & asin=B0009EXXK6 and will be able to say more about it when I've had a chance to experiment. It appears to be roughly equivalent to the Aroma that Mercola sells but was a net of ~$25 less, the reason I chose it. It basically has a circular heating element and a blower in the lid, temp control from warm up to 500 degrees and a 5-60 minute timer. Says it will toast too, but I'm not counting on that being it's forte. I tried it and the bread seemed more dried than toasted. I did bake fish wrapped in foil with butter tonite and is was delicious, cooked faster and seemed to taste better than the way I usually do it in the toaster oven. Also thawed a choc.chip cookie for my daughter very quickly and successfully. Time will tell. Take care, Alice - violist & HSing mom to Alice (DS) born Thanksgiving Day 1995 :-) Hopewell Junction, NY http://users.bestweb.net/~castella castella@... convection or toaster oven or one or the other, or one and the same or WHAAAAAT ??? hello everyone, i'm so confused !!! hoping someone wiser and less confused on this list can help me. i've read on dr. mercola and dr. williams and even dr. lark's list bunches about convection oven cooking benefits. having gotten rid of my " nuker, " i've been looking at convection ovens to buy, online and in stores. and i'm not getting anywhere. i found a convection oven on the price club website. read every word about it. it sounded so great. fast, healthy, less use of energy, smaller, yada-yada-ya. andtheni actually saw the dang thing in the price club store and all it was, was a toaster oven !!!! and that's what it said on the price sign even! so i tried to go back and re-check some of the models i found in the past and low and behold. they ALL look like a toaster oven, and most of them are positioned as one too! so, i'm sooo confused... is a convection oven NOTHING different than a simple toaster oven? i MUST be missing something crucial here, can't believe all this hoopla is being made with just semantics! help me please if you see what the heck i'm mixed up on here ! thanks much, much, angel

I can only speak for my convection oven because it's the only one I've ever used. It is larger than any toaster oven I've ever owned. Has the blowing fans, of course, and came with rotisserie attachments and pizza stone. It does toast well, though it takes longer than a toaster because it's inches away from the burners. I've been quite satisfied with everything I've used it for. I don't have an oven, so my convection oven, electric skillet and nesco roaster have to accomplish all the tasks of a typical kitchen. I have a wolfgang puck convection oven, I got it at overstock.com. Christa

Guest guest
teresa, thanks for the info. just to confirm i understand - so then, all these little ovens touted as " convection " ovens are really JUST toaster ovens since they don't have a serious fan inside? so, a free standing convection oven is then almost always a round thing to allow max air flow/circ? angel From: " downwardog7 " <illneverbecool@...> " Convection ovens use heated air that is forced into the oven by fans located in the back of the oven, generally for cooking food. By moving heated air past the food, convection ovens operate at a lower temperature than a standard conventional oven and they can cook food more quickly. They are mostly used in industrial and commercial applications, but can be purchased for the home as well. With a convection oven there will be about a 25 to 30% decrease in cooking temperature and a 20% decrease in cooking time as compared to a conventional oven. " B.
