Guest guest
That's because everyone has been swept up in a wave of hysteria and the mob mentality. This is a very dangerous time because people aren't thinking, just emoting. Reacting on emotion is rarely a good thing, especially when dealing with national policy. I'm getting read to feed my habit and order a few new books. I'm going to add that one by Wells. One you might be interested in, if you can find it, is "When Nations Die." Kind of depressing though since it is increasingly relevant today. In a message dated 2/1/2011 12:09:11 P.M. But parents don't seem to be telling their kids to stay indoors. Friends aren't telling friends to stay indoors. A lot of people are running around like lunatics. But see if they can organize some food aid, or create their own police force. While some armed groups of people are protecting their own neighborhoods, that is hardly a police force. More like armed thugs.
Guest guest
Thanks. is explaining why anarchy won't work. If everyone does what they want with no recourse to law, then everything breaks down. After all, why should one gang let food supplies reach the grocery when they could seize it for themselves as it tried to pass through their territory? Who is going to stop them? Another gang would be the only option and that means violence. Violence and theft means no more food deliveries at all. Democracy isn't much better because under such a system, if 51% of the people decided to seize all food into a central distribution system, even taking what is grown in private gardens, then no one would bother to put much effort into growing food. If they can't keep it nor can they profit from the sale of said produce, then why bother? This happened in the Plymouth Colony in the US and nearly destroyed it the first year. Later, when law and a capitalist system were put in place, 1 person grew as much crop as 20 had before. I've been wondering about Egypt for a long time. It has very little arable land and so many people. That's not a good thing. If the Muslim Brotherhood manages to scare off international trade, then there is going to be serious trouble foodwise. Thought provoking points, , and .rl
