Meanwhile, bacteriologists in Germany the deadly infection initially came from are trying to determine its source by running daily checks of local cafes, restaurants and bars. Their Chinese colleagues have already been able to single out genes, which allow the E.coli bacteria to resist eight classes of antibiotics. European health authorities advise against eating raw vegetables, above all tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuces. Russia earlier banned all raw vegetable imports from the EU countries.
