I've been reading that there has been a boom in sham universities around the country. The reason for most of those are the Federal tuition dollars being thrown around. What these groups do is set up an online college, put ads on TV and other media, then get people to sign up. Maybe they actually conduct a few classes, but the quality is doubtful and they are also unlikely to be accredited, which mean any education from them will be worthless.

This always happens when the government, any government, starts throwing around money: the crooks come out to grab it up.
