Guest guest
Around the same time more than 100,000 drum fish died in a section of river on the other side of Little Rock. While the government is saying they are taking birds and fish for testing and that the other fish species in that section of river are safe to eat (though I wouldn't go near that river for a while let alone eat any fish from it), other commenters are suggesting other things. Regarding the fish some are suggesting there is some kind of pollution that got dumped in the river that fish and game does want to talk about. Other theories are chemicals carried by rain up from the Gulf, to some link the constant tremors north of Little Rock. Also, the number is now closer to 2,000 birds. Quote: Arkansas Game & Fish is trying to figure out why 100,000 fish in Northwest Arkansas turned up dead. They were found along a 20-mile stretch between the Ozark Dam and Highway 109 Bridge in lin County. The 20-mile stretch along the Arkansas River where an estimated 100,000 drum fish were found washed ashore and floating looks much different now. http://www.todaysthv.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=136401 & catid=2 In a message dated 1/3/2011 12:26:54 A.M. Guest guest
Another article says fireworks brought the birds down, but I find that hard to believe. Birds aren't stupid. The first time they hear a boom and/or feel its concussion, they fly off in a different direction. It would have to be a tight flock of birds for 2,000 to get killed by, say, one firework, and it would have to be a windy day to scatter them all over.
