Guest guest
If Bush has done this, the Democrats would have impeached him and made it stick, booting him from office. I do think that the lawsuit over this sets a dangerous precedent. It serves as yet another internal distraction and division that will keep real matters from being addressed as politicians spend more time defending against real or potential lawsuits for anything they do. Its like Athens went Philip of Macedon was scheming to conquer them. Some in Athens knew of the threat and tried to take measure to protect Athens. The opposition stonewalled them politically and also with lawsuits. Something like 120 were leveled in a 2 year period, for example. That might not sound like much but considering the small size of Athens and that the legislative assembly had to come to a screeching halt for each case, well, nothing got done. Instead, Athens dithered at Philip gobbled out Athens' allies one by one until Athens stood alone, poor, friendless and with a populace that no longer cared about the state or their past freedoms.
