Mostly what's going on are urban battles. You can't effectively use air support in those conditions without forward observers right on the front lines. When opposing sides are fighting from buildings across the street from each other, it can be very hard to pick the target from a high flying, fast moving plane, and they have to get it right because if they miss they'll kill civilians.

This is really an infantry fight and it could get worse. I've seen video of the rebels massacring captured Qaddafi forces. I mean tying them up and shooting them in the head kind of massacring. If Qaddafi's men learn of this, and the probably know by now, they are going to start fighting harder since surrender or capture means death anyway. If they get in some well protected areas with cleared lines of approach, they could do a lot of damage to the rebels if they attack. Of course bombers could blow them up as well.

Still, think about what the rebels are doing, really doing not the cushy stories in the MSM about them being all hugs and kisses. That was probably just for the western media then once they were gone the mercs were killed and filmed for the internet. What kind of people might these be once they have power? I will find it darkly amusing if they set about killing all of Qaddafi's supporters.
