The military seems to have had a deal with certain members of the Muslim Brotherhood, senior members. The deal was they would get protestors off the streets in some areas and reduce the numbers in others.

It will be interesting to see if a power struggle develops within the MB.

Also interesting that since the article says that this fellow was one of the original coalition, maybe he was one who came to DC a few years ago for the big revolution meetings. If so, that would blast State Department's claims that the MB had nothing to do with the revolts and wouldn't seriously figure into future Egypt. Given the incompetence that dominates State and has for many decades, I would not be surprised if they weren't play as dupes.
