Guest guest
I remember those days, too. Days when it was more than mostly just and I having a conversation about current events with sometime comments from others. I would like to see more discussion on here, including about autism. However, folks don't talk about it, particularly not the new people who show up then never post. I noticed that the other sites were rather seedy. I stopped going to others along time ago. I'm one of those who opposes registries and special recognition for autism and AS. The only purpose for those things is to give politicians another special interest group to set against all the others and the people have to have the taxes for the goodies given to all the groups. It can also cause other mischief like a future state health care system deciding who might be denied care because they aren't worth as much as someone without conditions. As I understand it, this kind of reasoning already takes place in the UK where younger people are more highly valued by the state than older people and so older people are more likely to be left to die of otherwise curable conditions. I also question the motives of those pushing these things. It seems many are just after the money and/or serious need for attention and recognition, maybe even power. I also wouldn't be surprised if some of them were just being used by third parties, especially politicians. All that said, I like this site a lot. The spam doesn't come through, trolls aren't tolerated and it is rather private compared to other sites, especially Facebook. In a message dated 6/27/2011 5:06:41 P.M. Guest guest
I also like this site a lot. I seem to not post as much here as I used to BUT I Do try and read all the links to Midnight In Chicago's and Raven's blogs, YouTube video's etc; sometimes post comments about them on the blog's comments section! If any of our members don't read these blogs, watch the videos, they are missing something informative and thought provoking, different insights, and encouraging ideas!_________________________________________________________________________A few examples of what I am referring to: 1. Are Autism Advocates Adversarial? Some of us have seen the Healey YouTube videos that were recently uploaded to one of Healey`s YouTube channels. While there's no doubt that a lot of time and effort has gone into creating the latest batch of commercial advertisements, many in the Autism community are concerned about the message these videos are sending to the world at large about Autism Spectrum Disorders.http://midnightinchicago.wordpress.com/2011/06/28/are-autism-advocates-adversarial/2. BUCKET LIST: Wish #001 (Dr. Who Set in Cardiff, Wales) Hey folks, I strongly recommend you check out this new video from "Codeboy" Schofield. has AS, but that doesn't stop hm from producing great videos! A Riot!Last weekend, all the world got to see the ugliness that happened in Vancouver after Game 7 in the Stanley Cup series saw the Boston Bruins win.http://elysebruce.wordpress.com/2011/06/19/what-a-riot/ rl
