Missing Oklahoma autistic boy's body found in pond

CUSHING — The body of a missing 4-year-old autistic child was found Tuesday

afternoon in a duck pond a short distance from his home.

Blake Murrell was reported missing about 9:30 a.m. His body was found about 3:30

p.m. at 500 S Little, Cushing Police Chief Terry Brannon said.

Brannon said the boy's grandmother called police to report Blake's

disappearance.

" The family has been traumatized, " Brannon said. " Not just because they lost a

child, but also because of the way he was lost. I know it's hard for them to

understand. Obviously, our hearts go out to them. "

An autistic child in Lawton drowned in February after wandering away from home.

Savannah , 7, drowned in a pond 50 yards from her home. 's mother

said water was a source of fascination for her daughter.

According to the Mason Medlam Foundation, children with autism often are

attracted to bodies of water.
