We don't have any listed sources near us either. So I resorted to

hanging up a wanted flyer on local boards. I got lucky and had a

neighbor call me!

Maybe for some reason they don't get listed, like already have

enough customers. She could try just driving around looking for

dairy cows in grassy fields and asking the farmers if they'd sell

her some milk. Of course then they may not be certified dairies. A

dairy friend of mine said the small dairies are very unlikely to use

hormones as they damage the health of the cows and on small

operations they try to keep their cows healthy.

I just know there are a lot of folks out there who sell hormone-

free, grass fed animal products that have no need to advertise. My

favorite farm now has a 1 year waiting list for their meats. One

taste of their real sausage and you're hooked! None of that creepy

stuff that doesn't shrink when you cook it!

It may be difficult to find. I don't believe there are any local

chapters out that way, mine may be the western outpost of North Texas

<g>. And there ain't much green pasture out that way neither.

Please send on the list of providers for N TX (which includes Austin and

other places far afield) and ask her to check back often, as we get new

farms listed all the time. It may be wise to look into Oklahoma sources

as well.

She should look into the laws for TX real milk as well, if she hasn't.
