Earlier following the rebels' decision to enforce cessation of hostilities, a drop was witnessed in terrorist attacks in south-eastern Turkey where the PKK has its major support base. As for its decision to end the ceasefire, PKK said the Turkish government-led by Prime Minster Recep Tayyip Erdogan had failed to look into the issue of Kurdish mass graves. Besides the PKK accused Erdogan of failure to improve prison conditions for its jailed leader Abdullah Ocalan. According to the rebels, despite the termination of the ceasefire, they would not be the first to launch an attack. However, it vowed to actively defend itself against attacks from government troops. Founded in 1978, the PKK, which stands for its Kurdish name:Partiya KarkerĂȘn Kurdistan, aims to create an independent Kurdish state comprising southeastern Turkey, northeastern Iraq, northeastern Syria and northwestern Iran where Kurds constitute a majority. The PKK has been proscribed by Ankara as an ethnic secessionist outfit which employs terrorism and force against civilian and military targets for realising its goal of nationhood. It has also been designated a terror outfit by United States and European Union(EU). by RTT Staff Writer
Guest guest
Why shouldn't they? The whole world is going mad thanks to deliberate action by a few so why shouldn't they jump in and add to the chaos? I predicted around the 2008 election that the world would be going mad and it certainly seems to be. In a message dated 2/28/2011 5:44:08 P.M.
