I have the following sentence from a reference to translate from German

to English:

" Bei der QTL-Kartierung, also der Analyse von loci mit Einflüssen auf

die Variabilität quantitativer Merkmale, betrachtete er die

Leistungsdaten der Mast, Schlachtkörperzusammensetzung,

Fleischbeschaffenheit und Stressresistenz. "

1. Mast Is this the fattening of the animals?

2. Schlachtkörperzusammensetzung. How do I express this in English?

Is it to do with the best way of collecting the animals (pigs in this

case) for slaughter?

3. Fleischbeschaffenheit und Stressresistenz Meat composition and

stress resistance?

Yes, 'carcass composition' fits the context as does 'fattening

fodder'.

My dictionary also gives " composition'' for " Beschaffenheit " but I

guess 'meat consistency' is probably what is intended, like whether it

is smooth or something else.

--> Yes, exactly - *fattening*. The other meaning is *(fattening) feed*

2. Schlachtkörperzusammensetzung. How do I express this in English?

---> I don't know the translation, but it means *composition of the

slaughtered animal*

3. Fleischbeschaffenheit und Stressresistenz Meat composition and

stress resistance?

---> Again only the meaning - *condition of meat*. *Stress resistence* is

very important especially in pig - they may collapse and die on the way the

the slaughterhouse.
