"Hello Everyone, I've been on facebook and it just seems like i'm not wanted i'm a very politically active person as an ecologist/economist. Alot has been accomplished yet at the same time when it comes to socializing on the boards on facebook i'm like the "one guy" that gets left out of the big picture. It's like people don't care about what i have to say about who, what, when, where, why and how."

Greg, I'm sorry to hear that you are having touble on Facebook. Sometimes I do too.

There is something I want you to think about.

It is not likely that you will be able to have intelligent conversations with most people on Facebook. Facebook is very popular, but the reason it's popular is because it's very easy to operate, and designed to appeal to a class of people who are mostly interested in light socializing. There are a few places I go to have intelligent conversations on FB, but time is so limited that I cannot spend much time on FB, so I don't post much. "Well if that's the case then i don't care about them either. Not counting my family who loves me undyingly as i do them. And of what few friends i have who actually do care about what i have to say. Not to forget my ex-girlfriends nonetheless i personally think facbook is just one big publicity stunt."FB is a big commercial venture designed to get personal information so they can sell that information to third party lists or attract advertisers. It's marketed as being something "big" that everyone "must have" but it's really nothing. You need to remember all the "great" things that have disappeared off the net already. MSN Groups disappeared, and have been replaced by a FB clone. MySpace is going out of favor with a lot of people. FB will follow suit, although not for a few years yet, but I believe it will begin to go downhill.

"Which is why i'm thinking about deactivating my facebook account and coming back here. The forums here hold more of a special meaning in my life than some forum that doesn't even know the first thing about autism let alone doesn't even scratch the surface of it. And i'm glad to be a part of these forums. "

You're always welcome here as long as I keep these forums open, although I am constantly toying with shutting them down.

"So without further adue i'm gonna go deactivate my facebook account. Maybe years from now i'll go back but i doubt it. I hope to hear from you soon, good luck in all you do. I welcome your opinions on these matters."

Best wishes Greg.

Hi Greg,

I am not on facebook, personally the idea of social network sites leaves me

cold. I do belong to some forums. I guess what I find most confusing about sites

like facebook is the business of 'friends', as in people you do not know asking

you to add them as a friend and things like that.

Greg, what I have seen is that Facebook is one big playground with an inordinate number of bullies and sociopaths among the nice people. I was appalled to learn that many of the bullies and sociopaths actually form secret groups where they talk criminally about hurting those they don't like, even when they have no reason to deal with the people they don't like in the first place.

There's been a recent trend lately where more and more people are leaving social networking sites because they are far more trouble than benefit to them. If you feel you want to leave, you shouldn't feel guilty about your decision. You don't need to voluntarily subject yourself to negative situations.

You know that as long as this forum exists, you will be welcome here. :-)
