Police said some of the victims were minors, but their ages haven't been released. Officers responded to a report of shots fired at the residence in Wheatland, about 90 miles (145 kilometres) north of Cheyenne, shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday, police said. Police said they arrested a man identified as Everett Conant, in his mid-30s. They said he surrendered after the short standoff. A fifth victim was injured but survived and was transported to a hospital, police said. Police didn't release that person's name. However, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center spokesman said a woman named Suzette Conant was admitted to the hospital Thursday and was in good condition Friday. Public records show Suzette Conant shares an address with Everett Conant. Two victims were taken to Platte Memorial Hospital in Wheatland, where one was pronounced dead and another was transported to another hospital. It wasn't clear whether that was the victim who survived. The Platte County Sheriff's Department said Everett Conant was in the county jail Friday, but it had no record of whether he had an attorney. Police referred additional questions to County Attorney , who didn't immediately return calls. Wheatland is a farming and ranching community of about 3,600 at the edge of the plains, not far from the Laramie Mountains.
