They were the first to die this month. The military statement released Sunday gave no further details about the deaths. The soldiers were killed on a day marked by a wave of deadly explosions around Baghdad that killed at least 16 people most of them Iraqi security forces. The names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The military said the incident is being investigated. The deaths raise to at least 4,454 the number of U.S. military personnel who have died in Iraq since the war began in March 2003. That's according to an Associated Press count. Eleven were killed in April, a 15-month high. Copyright © 2011 The Associated Press.
