They'd better be boosting their defenses against human wave attacks (meaning more machine guns and artillery) and planning to get the troops out of Iraq. Those troops could very easily become isolated by hostile protesters and they wouldn't last long without the regular supply runs. Smaller posts could also find themselves under heavy attack or even overrun, and honestly I would be surprised if most of the army and police we have trained don't turn the weapons on the Americans.

Let's remember the cowardly attacks by the Iraqis against the UN forces. There

was a lot of bragging, blustering, chest-beating, and then surrendering,

retreating, and getting the crap kicked out of them. I doubt we would see human

wave attacks.

I could see attacks happening whenever people thought they had the tactical

advantage though.

I don't think they would go after America or Americans first. Israel would be

the most likely target. They might try to destroy an American base to prevent

the Americans from defending Israel, but I really think the Israelis would be

the number one target.

I'm not so sure. All it would take is one such incident where the US or other

foreign troops opened fire in their own defense. The media would go ballistic

with such footage, and you can bet there would be plenty. That would really fire

up the antiAmericanism in the region making more attacks likely. Also, if the

local armies turn on us, we could see bases getting shelled and attacked by

people with training.

Local rioters will do things like throwing rocks at embassies. But they have

demonstrated in the past that they are turncoats, siding with whomever is in

control. They have seen the havooc America can wreak if we get too upset. I

doubt the citizenry would provoke us, even if a " Holy War " was called by their

spiritual leaders. Their faith was stomped on when they saw us yanking Sadaam

out of his pathetic foxhole. Don't forget all his prayers to Allah and promises

of certain victory " God-willing. " It appears that God was not willing and the

" Great Satan " steam-rollered over him.

Would the average Joe in the Middle East be willing to take the same risk? I

doubt it. Not even when being incited by zealous religious leaders.

I was thinking more about local rioters causing the trouble, or at least

starting it. government forces might get involved later, especially if there are

casualties.
