This is also what the terrorists did in Iraq. Our troops saw terrorists firing at them from trucks which had women and children tied around the outside of the cargo area like armor plating. They did the same by firing from houses with the families held prisoner inside, though sometimes they used their own homes and families as shields.

They learned to do this because they knew the foreign media would immediately blame the US without bothering to do any factchecking. This was also the case because most foreign media stayed well inside the Green Zone in Baghdad and accepted reports and tips from local stringers at face value. These stringers were often sympathetic to or working directly for the terrorist groups and so fed along slanted or even totally fictitious accounts.

Most of the media is doing the same now. In Libya, for example, they have been filing stories about the brutality of the Qadafi forces, but ignoring the stories of Hamas and Al Qaeda being active amongst the "rebels" and looting military stockpiles of advanced weapons like antiaircraft missiles and chemical weapons. They are also ignoring the videos that get posted on the internet by the rebels of them killing prisoners and others.

In a message dated 6/6/2011 5:39:02 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, no_reply writes:

"The gunmen in Jisr Shughur are heavily armed with medium weapons and hand grenades, and they use the residents as human shields," said a caption on state television. "The security forces and police surround the gunmen who entrenched in a number of houses in Jisr Shughur and started to open fire on military personnel and civilians."
