Officials: US missile kills 5 in NW Pakistan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan -- Pakistani intelligence officials say an American

missile attack has killed five people close to the Afghan border.

The officials says the strike took place in the North Waziristan region on

Wednesday. There were no immediate details about the casualties. The officials

spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak to the

media.

The United States routinely fires missiles from unmanned drones at al-Qaida and

Taliban targets in northwest Pakistan.
