Guest guest
Again Ghost in the Shell doesn't disappoint. Tonight the Major met with an aspect of Goda, their enemy. What he said had a lot of bearing on what is happening in the world today. Goda said that even though he was a brilliant and productive mind, he lacked certain traits that society craves and the system itself demands. Basically those traits are charisma and the ability to give people what they want (though not stated directly I'm sure this refers to a psychological level and not merely physical goods and services). Goda goes on to say that his mission is to remake the state in a new image, one of his own design essentially. To do this, he is producing the hero of the revolution, a puppet who's strings he will pull. This puppet will, in effect, have the traits he lacks and can thus influence and control the minds of society, or at least enough of them to see his new state come to be over possible objections by others. Goda is also using public anger at high taxes and groups that oppose certain kinds of social spending to his own ends. He is also manipulating the media and is controlling small groups of terrorists to further push his goals. Sounds a lot like what his happening now. Certain people want to remake the world in their own image but lack the charisma. So they put up highly charismatic puppets in different countries to force through their agenda. At the same time they control the media in these countries, or at least a large portion of it. Through it and their control over the education system, they are controlling the minds and thinking of the masses who don't even realize it is happening. Only the domestic terrorism hasn't started up yet. That's why I like this show. Every time I watch the series, something new related to current events jumps out.
