The media is going all out to contribute to the fear in this incident. They are grabbing at rumors and shouting them until they become policy action, as in nations banning imports from other nations and spreading fear about travel and such. This is causing harsh feelings between nations and the various leaderships are already locking horns.

Industries are also being harmed, mainly agricultural ones because of all of this.

If this wasn't a terrorists attack, I'm sure that those are have been considering a food based attack, which I say again is something there has been some concern because of terrorist chatter, could be learning a lot from this. They are seeing how the nations turn on each other, some people have stopped eating vegetables and are calling for halts to imports, etc. They see how the media behaves as well. If this wasn't an attack, a future one even on the same scale or smaller will likely have great result.
