This is something I've mentioned several times before. China is having a very bad drought and has been for a few years. They have well over a billion people in an area not much larger than the US. A lot of the best farmland is either in use and declining or has been paved over. It also explains why China has been working so hard to buy up food resources all around the world. We should be paying attention to this as well and stop doing silly things like turning a third or more of the corn crop into ethanol and not imposing more ridiculous regulations like the new food safety law that will make raising food in this country more expensive and will likely cause more farms to fail tightening the food supply even more.

For some time the US counted on being able to buy all the food it needed because of the dollar being stronger than other currencies. Well, that's not so much the case anymore and will likely end up getting worse over time as the dollar continues to decline because of the government debt.
