Guest guest
Hillary also not too long ago told the Chinese that the US now considered Taiwan and renegade province and part of China, not a proper independent nation. Someone said basically the same thing about Kuwait to Saddam shortly before Saddam invaded that country. In a message dated 6/2/2011 12:36:39 P.M. Guest guest
When i was growing up, I thought of Taiwan (Formosa) as "free China" (during the 1950's and 1960's) and was really disappointed when Canada officially recognized Communist China as the legitimate Chinese government. This ws the era of the cold war, possible war with Russia, there was a NORAD radar base near our home; the Fed government distributed the Booklet '11 Steps to survival'; what to do in before, during, and after nuclear war. For whatever reason, Taiwan has become less in the public consciousness in the past few decades, maybe because of political and economic hype regarding Communist China. I don't think its wise to ignore communist China, as they are a force to be reconed with BUT Taiwan has remained a bastion of democracy against communist expansion. (Have heard allegations of corruption in Taiwan BUT no country is free of corruption, including Canada) rl 'My cat Rusty is a servant of the Living God....' adapted from a poem by Smart To: FAMSecretSociety Sent: Thursday, June 2, 2011 1:15:34 PMSubject: Re: Clinton suggests Assad legitimacy "nearly run out" Hillary also not too long ago told the Chinese that the US now considered Taiwan and renegade province and part of China, not a proper independent nation. Guest guest
I had a friend in high school who was Taiwanese. That was in the 1980's and they were concerned about a Chinese attack. China has been working on them all this time though and stepping up its attacks. What they've been doing is using a weakness of democracy against Taiwan: they've been giving money to politicians. Politicians take the Chinese money and work against their own country to undermine its will and potentially vote for reunification one day.
