Guest guest
That's just enough to get in a lot of trouble and not be able to escape. That number couldn't really even hold a perimeter at an airfield, at least not these days with missiles and long range guns. If the Iraqis wanted to they could line the approaches to the airfield with guns the shoot down anything that tried to fly in or just do like the NVA at Khe Sanh and drop mortars on the field when anything moved. So, leaving those troops there is a fine way to get a bunch of them killed or taken prisoner. They aren't even near a coast like they were in Somalia for a quick getaway by sea.
