Guest guest
They're fun and mesmerizing, but of course they are dangerous too. Happy there was no damage. I expect we will see lots of strong storms as the season progresses. It snowed for a very short time up here today, which is not unheard of in April in Chicago, but is still quite rare. Administrator Just had some really heavy weather pass over. A powerful line of thunderstorms went across the state with several tornado warnings. One of them was here. I actually spent a little time moving between the basement and the first floor where the weather radio and TV were. For some reason there is a lot of interference here not and I can't get some of the local news and weather stations on the old portable radio. At one point a radar indicated tornado approached and passed over the city. It started really high at like 30,000 feet but by the time it was almost overhead it was down to 5,000 feet. It doesn't seem to have actually touched down though. In fact, it was windier before the storm arrived that while that thing was overhead. Anyway, they said it was a very rare even for this part of the country. Tornadoes here usually touch down by themselves whereas this one was rain-wrapped like usually happens in the Midwest and plains. I shot a lot of video but it was really nothing but heavy rain so nothing particularly interesting. I'm not complaining because while the tornado might have been great footage I'd rather not get that close to one again.
Guest guest
This year has been very windy, moreso than in many years. The rain has been below average though there have been some strong storms, this being only the latest one and the strongest. The snow is also unusual. In a message dated 4/17/2011 12:44:08 A.M.
