Guest guest
For many decades, most NATO nations hid behind the bug US shield all the while berating the US for spending so much on its military. After 9/11, many NATO nations couldn't scramble any aircraft to protect their skies and most have militaries only on paper. They might have special forces and some planes but by an large the ground forces are useless. As we can see here they leapt at the chance for war but didn't have the resources to manage it once Uncle Sugar was gone. Nato is running short of attack aircraft for its bombing campaign against Muammar Gaddafi only days after taking command of the Libyan mission from a coalition led by the US, France and Britain. Cameron has pledged four more British Tornado jets on top of eight already being used for the air strikes. But pressure is growing for other European countries, especially France, to offer more after the Americans withdrew their attack aircraft from the campaign on Monday. "We will need more strike capability," a Nato official said.
Guest guest
A good lesson for them, but also a loud announcement that their countries are basically defenseless. But really, they have been saving money and boosting their economies because they haven't been building or maintaining their militaries. We've suffered in the meantime by dumping so much into defense, and into defending others. We should start defending others less and let others spend money on their militaries.
