The quake, which struck at 8.47am today (NZ time), had its epicentre 126 kilometres west-northwest of the city of Dumaguete on Negros Island and 576km south-southeast of Manila, the Philippine capital, at a depth of 19km. The quake was followed by a 5.1-magnitude aftershock 16 minutes later. No Tsunami warning was issued following the quake and there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
