Hello Everyone, I remember the days when this forum was first created aftereveryone jumped ship off of Edan's website.

I remember those days too.

I remember how all we used to talk about then was autism and aspergers and the various aspects of it, some occasional news but it wasn't like listening to NPR.

I remember those days too.

I remember the days when i had some really good friends on various other forums one of them was a guy in his 50's by the name of who's from Ontario, Canada he wrote the most beautiful poetry and knew of this wonderful website that was very intricate which of course had poetry on it as well very well versed.I remember how on most yahoo aspergers forums the administrators or managers would fight off spam day after day but nowadays they just let it slip right through their hands like sand it runs amuck on most forums.

I don't let spam through here, but I would like to point something out Greg about why those other formums that you speak of have run to seed in that regard.

First of all, guess what? The FAM forums are the ONLY forums which still exist which are LEGALLY entitled to use the name "Aspergia" and the "Min" symbol. All the rest are closed. Aspergia closed. Aspergian Island closed. Aspergian Pride closed.

I am prohibited from saying why Aspergia closed, although I do know why. As you know, I used to be a mod for Aspergian Island, but quit when some of the other mods proved, in my opinion, to be corrupt. Crucibelle left a bunch of moderators in charge after me who, she claims, "stole" the board from her. When she regained control, she fired the mods and closed the board. I am not sure why Aspergian Pride closed, but I have my suspicions.

Many former Aspergians founded Yahoo groups, but they could not compete with the flashier Delphi forums that WrongPlanet and AFF uses. People like their little mailboxes and what have you. Those of us who like and always liked DEEP conversations stay in forums like these. Also, the corruption with the WP forum is something people don't like. Every since two of their members threatened to go on a shooting spree, and then DID, when the mods essentially did nothing (according to articles) to prevent it by calling the authorities, Aspies with a conscience won't post there. Lots of other Aspies who approve of that kind of thing DO post there.

Then of course, there is Facebook and Twitter, where the opportunity to have deep conversations are almost eliminated. It seems like most people on the spectrum prefer those.

I remember how most forums had groups of people talking about either familieswith autism or kids who had autism and nowadays we just get e-mails from someone who's looking for a pen pal.

That person may be a scammer looking for cash.

I feel like i'm standing in a garden of dead flowers that died of heat strokeand lack of water. What happened to those days my dear friends? Did something go awry? Feel free to tell me what you think. I hope to hear from you soon, goodluck in all you do.

Well Greg, you need to understand that many of your former friends went on to form autistic advocacy organizations which lobbied for governments to pass mandatory autism registries in certain states, and they are now lobbying for national and international registries. That's offended a lot of autistics who believe their medical information ought to remain private. Then of course there is the fact that many people on the boards of these organizations are writing stories which have children being molested by adults. And then there are autism advocates who are trying to convince courts that autistics don't know right from wrong. And so autistics -true autisics who have been diagnosed by professionals- don't really want to post publicly anymore because society now views autistics as worse than they ever have. I wouldn't be surprised if we wind up seeing autism bashing just like we see gay bashing. And those people now control the majority of boards and blogs out on the net. And it's all because regular autistics stayed silent and did nothing to fight all of this.

Hmm. I wonder Edan sensed all this coming on when he shut down Aspergia?

Dear and Visigoth, First let me say i'm very tired after a rather

exhausting day my mind isn't functioning like it should it isn't exactly on all

four cylinders right now but i'm sending my reply because i know you seek my

input :). I also would like to thank both of you for your input it was very

informative and insightful, now i see why we have these sites here, it's to fend

off those who do wrong, those who are against us, those who wish to do

harm,etc,etc.

I've seen people on the road who have bumper stickers that say " end autism. "

It's not a very enlightening sight if you ask me. I must say between chatting on

these forums and talking on facebook i find people are more social and sociable

and (most of all) friendly on these discussion forums than they are on facebook.

On facebook most people don't even give you a glance let alone say hello it's

like a very sullen setting it makes life look dull and sterile.

I saw my psychologist today he is doing well his name is Dr. Kamoo (He's

american/middle eastern descent) i've been seeing him for some time now and he

knows me like the back of his hand much like that special handshake i know :).

So anyways thank you again and i'll always enjoy hearing from all of you,

poetically put " reading a letter is far better than going great bounds to be a

go getter. " I hope to hear from you soon, good luck in all you do.

Best Regards,

Greg
