Guest guest
I pre-ordered mine back last summer before it came out because it looked like a great way to trick my son into getting some exercise. When we picked it up just before Christmas, the guy at the local GameCrazy told us that Nintendo didn't make enough of them - they underestimated the demand. Call GameStop or GameCrazy - they might have some used ones for sale by now. The name of the game is " DDR Mix. " And you have to buy a pad to go with it. Have you looked on eBay? timary > > > > Timary, > > > > Thanks for the info! Guest guest
Timary, I called GameStop last night and went on line. Used ones are hard to find and when I asked if they would be getting more in one clerk told me no, as they were discontinuing the product due to a lot of problems with the floor pads. Apparently, your son has not had this problem? Mindy Re: Dance Dance Revolution >> > > >> > > We got the DDR and it is great! Guest guest
I just e-mailed Nintendo to ask them what is going on with it... I'll let you all know what they say if they ever e-mail me back!. Guest guest
I don't know anything about DDR until I started reading this thread, but I went up on e-Bay and saw one that attaches to your tv (i.e. no game system required). It was very cheap -- which made me wonder if it was the same thing or if it would fall apart pretty quickly. Anyway, we don't have a game system of any kind at home so I was wondering if any of you are familiar with this tv version. Thanks, Rhoda Re: Dance Dance Revolution > > > > > > > > We got the DDR and it is great! Don't worry about it > being > > > > too easy - there are 4 or 5 levels you can work up to. Guest guest
DDR is a game for your Playstation 2. If you found something calling itself DDR that attaches directly, it's not the genuine product. Guest guest
I think DDR ( " Dance Dance Revolution " ) is actually a kind of generic name. There are DDR machines at places like Dave and Busters and other arcades. A variety of DDR games have been available for Playstation and Xbox for a long time. Nintendo was just slow getting into the act. We just went with the one because my son has a gamecube (and neither of the other two platforms) and because it was aimed at a younger audience. timary > > I don't know anything about DDR until I started reading this thread, but I > > went up on e-Bay and saw one that attaches to your tv (i.e. no game system > > required). Guest guest
Dance Dance Revolution is a registered trademark of Konami, I believe. The game started as those Dave and Busters things and were such a big hit that they licensed the home versions on PS, PS2 and Xbox. The standalone on ebay appears to be called " Dance Revolution " and the seller misleadingly has included DDR in the subject name. Caveat emptor! Guest guest
We keep gamecube at grandma's house to keep from overuse so we've only played with mario mix once, but I thought I'd let you all know how it went. He's always been drawn to this sort of game; if we went to an electronics store with a dance pad set up he'd watch and wait for a turn, we even have one at our local Mc's playscape. They were too hard and he didn't get his timing right, but he didn't care. When we brought mix home he was apprehensive at first, which surprised me. He didn't want to play it because he was afraid of getting a low score, but he wanted to watch a few times. He did start trying and didn't do so great. The game said " FAILED " at the end. My kiddo can read and this hurt his feelings a little, but when grandma said she got that too her first try, he felt better and tried again. He played for about 30-40 minutes and was doing much better (on easy level) than when he started. Whether practicing moving his body in precise timing with the game will cause improved coordination and motor planning, I am not sure. Surely, it'll help better than a sitting down mario game.
