They probably will. The longer the chaos goes on, the more people will beg for a strong man to bring safety and get the food delivered again.

Right. And this brings up an interesting point.

The public has no problem organizing a mob of people to go parading in the

streets, but left to govern themselves, they would all die of starvation.

I say everyone's involved because every man is someone's son and every woman is

someone's daughter. But parents don't seem to be telling their kids to stay

indoors. Friends aren't telling friends to stay indoors.

A lot of people are running around like lunatics.

But see if they can organize some food aid, or create their own police force.

While some armed groups of people are protecting their own neighborhoods, that

is hardly a police force. More like armed thugs.

At any rate, one of two things will happen: Mubarak will wait it out, or else he

will be deposed, and there will be a strongman to take his place. Or a military

dictatorship, which would be better.

When this first began I took out Wells' " Outline of History " and read up on what

he had to say about revolutions and revolts. What he said made sense. The people

always pick someone who is perfect to take the place of the ousted person, but

the replacement only knows how to lead during a crisis, and seldom works out

when things settle down, and so the result is another revolt after a while.

Elections and voting are a way to preclude revolts.
