Guest guest
Dr. Goldberg uses all medications readily available via FDA. These drugs are the very best HE has until NEW immune modulators are put into trials and/or given to our children. Michele
Guest guest
How about the fda approved thimerisol in flu shots? Re: Does Dr G use Natural Immune modulators Basically Dr G does not prescribe anything that has not been FDA approved. He is always concerned about the purity and efficacy of anything a child takes. My child does take acidophilus which is, as far as I know, not manufactured in a facility that has to be inspected by the FDA. But everything else is an approved pharmaceutical. > > I've heard and or understood that some transfer factors such as made > by 4 life co. are prescribed as natural immunemodulators. Guest guest
From what I read, Thimerosal was grandfathered into FDA approval (much in the same way kutapressin was since it existed before the FDA did. Although kutapressin's safety record is excellent.). This still means that it is FDA approved though. I wonder if it would hold up if introduced today with the rigorous testing that is required????? No way to know. Sharon
Guest guest
Sorry I'm being a facetious smart aleck. Thimerisol is a mercury-based preservative still used in flu shots and trace amounts in other vaccines. Its FDA approved and I believe Dr G sees no harm, however there remains growing controversy. My point is that the FDA doesnt exactly hold the gold standard for safety. Guest guest
Thanks for your elaboration Ray...there is too much misinformation flying around on this list right now that it is important for posters to remain honest and as straight forward as possible. The point on this thread about natural immune modulators is that Dr Goldberg keeps away from " natural " remedies because the purity in manufacture and in testing procedures is not held to the same standards as medicines. He is so cautious with basic multivitamins and pro-biotics. At least Flu-shots, whether with or without thimerisol are held to much higher testing and manufacturing standards by the FDA than 'food' supplements. Flu vaccines are tested according to FDA standards - including with thimerisol. FDA testing for long term effects does remain a point of conjecture. Thimerasol is used (and has been forever) in the manufacture of vaccines as a preservative and later extracted. It has been kept in multi-dose vials to preserve shelf-life and extremes of storage conditions. Single dose vaccines usually have it removed. MMR I don't believe had it in it. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Palmer, F Sent: Wednesday, June 14, 2006 4:47 AM Subject: RE: Re: Does Dr G use Natural Immune modulators Sorry I'm being a facetious smart aleck. Guest guest
If you ask me, the FDA itself is highly controversial! - " Palmer, F " <palmerr@...> wrote: Sorry I'm being a facetious smart aleck. Guest guest
OT here, but... I don't know if any of you have had the thimerisol conversation with an anesthesiologist (to make sure they are not putting you/your child under with the one anesthesia still on the market preserved with thimerisol). I have had 2 separate anesthesiologist look at me in horror at the thought of mercury preserving an anesthesia (one had to google it himself, because he thought I was mistaken). He told me, " there better not be any mercury in there, I'm sending straight to your child's brain! " I answered, " yes that's why I'd like you to double check please! " I can't remember the name of the drug, but I recommend always verifying that there is no mercury preserving the drug that puts you or a family member under! - " Palmer, F " <palmerr@...> wrote: How about the fda approved thimerisol in flu shots?
