Guest guest
FEMA is denying aid money to people who have lost their homes in Alabama to the recent tornadoes. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... -home.html Quote: Displaced families in tornado-ravaged Alabama are outraged after being denied federal aide to rebuild their flattened homes - due to 'insufficient damage'.Jefferson County resident said he laughed in shock after the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) claimed the house his family lost in the deadly April 27 twister was 'not unsafe to live in'.The devastating reality is the house is now a concrete slab surrounded by rubble.Shocked: and and their children, Haley and Noah, lost their house in the April 27 tornado that devastated Pleasant Grove. FEMA denied the 's request for aide due to 'insufficient damage'Mr told AL.com a FEMA inspector saw first-hand the Pleasant Grove residence he shared with his wife, , and their two children was ripped from the ground. Three days after the visit, however, he received a letter reading: 'Based on your FEMA inspection, we have determined that the disaster has not caused your home to be unsafe to live in. End Quote What I think is going on is that Alabama is a Red State, meaning it didn't go for Obama in 2008. It also elected another Republican governor which also made the local Dems really mad. I read the commentaries in newspapers as well as comments on new sites about the election and the Dems were literally getting unhinged that a Republican might again be governor in Alabama. Its just like what happened under Clinton. When disasters hit Blue States or Democrat heavy location, Slick Willy was right there with aid and money before the governors even asked for it, which, by US law, is how it is supposed to work: the governor declares a disasters area and asks the Feds for help, not the president declaring disaster areas first. But when a Red State got hit, well, not so much. Slick didn't come riding to the rescue and sometimes requests for aid were denied. When a bad ice storm hit here, for example, the poor democrat side of town got lots of help, but the middle and upper class side of town was a wreck for weeks. Same happened later when hurricanes trashed the area. We were without power for 2 weeks while the other people got power back in a couple of days. So its just Democrat politics all over again: You didn't vote for me so you ain't getting help no matter how bad off you are. Next time maybe you'll vote correctly then you'll get your help.
